Cheryl Hyatt Featured in Business Insider

Preparation is fundamental to an interview. One way to make use of that preparation is through a cheat sheet for your interview. A cheat sheet can list items you want to be sure and include in the discussion.

Cheryl Hyatt was recently featured in Business Insider discussing the role that notes can play in a successful interview. Hyatt notes that candidates often answer more successfully if they have notes with them. A cheat sheet is an even more viable option with many interviews taking place through Zoom.

Hyatt cautions that your cheat sheet should be used as a tool, not a crutch. You want to be making eye contact with your interviewer—whether that’s mediated through technology or not—not be constantly looking down.

Hyatt shares an example cheat sheet from Marywood University’s president Mary Persico. It includes items such as an elevator pitch, strengths, shortcomings, competencies and soft-skills.
