Search Spotlight: Provost, St. Thomas University
St. Thomas University, a Catholic University located in Miami Gardens, Florida, is accepting nominations and applications for the position of Provost. Reporting to the President as the Chief Academic Officer, the Provost is responsible for the overall coordination and leadership of all academic matters of the University. The new Provost will be expected to take office during the Spring semester of 2019.
St. Thomas University is a thriving campus with undergraduate and graduate programs in a variety of disciplines. The school also features a growing athletic program. In 2019 football will be added to the roster of 14 sports already played by the University’s teams.
St. Thomas University recently received an award from Ashoka U for its innovative educational approach to social entrepreneurship in higher education. St. Thomas University has partnered with a coffee cooperative as a way to make more sustainable jobs and a more responsible ecosystem in Haiti.
Anthony Vinciguerra, coordinator for STU’s Center for Community Engagement, shared, “We engage our students in collaborative efforts to understand and address complex local and global problems. This partnership has enhanced student research, internships, and courses in a variety of disciplines; has developed students’ global civic consciousness; and has developed strong relationships between the University and its partner coffee farmers—all while supporting Haitian-led, long-term social entrepreneurial development in Haiti.”
