High school juniors and seniors regularly get more mail than their parents and other family members combined as colleges seek to woo them into attendance. All colleges are marketing, but not all colleges are marketing effectively. One recent ad campaign that stood head and shoulders above the rest is American University’s WONK campaign. The campaign highlighted the types of careers graduates find, encouraging prospective students to picture themselves in their future at American and beyond. It engaged students with interactive elements such as quizzes where they could test their smarts against experts.
