Cheryl Hyatt to Present at 2015 Council of Independent Colleges Presidents Institute

{Pittsburgh} Cheryl A. Hyatt, Partner, Hyatt-Fennell Executive Search, will present at the 2015 Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) Presidents Institute. This year’s meeting will take place January 4-7 in San Diego, California.

Cheryl Hyatt’s panel presentation in which she will participate is entitled “Avoiding the Pitfalls of Senior Leadership Searches”. The panel session, which is open only to currently serving college presidents, is comprised of a group of senior search consultants who will discuss what can go wrong—and how to make it right—in searches for senior-level administrators. What are the essential ingredients for a successful search? What should be avoided? Should a search consultant be used, and if so, how does one select the firm that is right for the institution? What should be the president’s role in the search—from start to finish? Along with Cheryl Hyatt, the other panelists will be R. Stanton Hales, Senior Consultant, Academic Search, Inc., and Katherine Haley, Principal, Witt/Kieffer. The moderator for the panel is Scott D. Miller, President, Bethany College (WV)

The Presidents Institute is CIC's premier event, bringing presidents of independent colleges and universities together for networking, problem-solving, and sharing of ideas among colleagues leading similar institutions. In recent years, CIC's Presidents Institute has become the largest annual meeting of college and university presidents, regularly attracting more than 330 higher education chief executives. The Institute includes a program for new presidents and presidential spouses.
