Marywood University is accepting nominations and applications for the position of Provost. Reporting directly to the President, Sister Mary Persico, the Provost is the chief academic officer of the University providing leadership in all academic matters. The Provost serves as a key member of the University’s senior administrative team and must be a true leader who is able to further the University’s vision, in collaboration with deans, faculty, administrators, students, trustees, and other constituencies, all in pursuit of an ever-stronger University.
Marywood University is a comprehensive Catholic university founded in 1915 and sponsored by the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Scranton, PA. The co-educational University, with over 2,500 students, sits on a 115-acre campus in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Marywood integrates an enduring liberal arts tradition and professional disciplines to create a comprehensive learning experience through its undergraduate and graduate programs.
The selected candidate must have a terminal degree in their discipline and an outstanding record of accomplishment in teaching, scholarship, and professional service sufficient to earn tenured full professor status in their relevant academic discipline. Most importantly, the new Provost must possess qualities of leadership, including vision, a spirit of collaboration, consensus building, integrity, and demonstrable commitment to the principles of equity, transparency, and shared governance. Not only will the new Provost engage with the strategic and visionary work of the University, they will cultivate relationships across institutions and with the broader community. In addition, the selected candidate must be a strong advocate for the Catholic and IHM identity of the University.
