Dean of Nursing
Lourdes University is seeking accomplished and energetic candidates for the Dean of Nursing position in the College of Nursing. Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the successful candidate, working independently with nominal supervision, is responsible for overseeing undergraduate and graduate curricula and academic policies; hiring, development and evaluation of faculty; and creating a student-centric learning environment for the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. This is a full-time, 12-month position. The ideal candidate will have a proven record in nursing education and the health sciences and be an innovative leader who has successfully incorporated the latest technology into an accredited and highly respected nursing program.
The selected candidate will possess the visionary skills to effectively grow a respected nursing program that has garnered more than $10 million in federally funded grants. In addition, s/he will strengthen and build upon established healthcare partnerships with the goal of increasing clinical capacity and forging new programs, pathways and delivery methods that will position Lourdes as the university of choice for nursing undergraduate and graduate majors. The selected candidate will also possess an earned doctorate (PhD in Nurse Education preferred, EdD, DNP w/ MSN-Educator) from an accredited college/university; eligible for an unencumbered license as an RN in Ohio; at least 5 years experience in an academic faculty position; prior experience with CCNE accreditation; and online teaching experience.
Lourdes Junior College was founded in 1958 and nursing was one of the first academic programs established. In 1986, the institution added the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Over the next three decades, Lourdes University nursing graduates were the most respected and sought after professionals for hospitals and other healthcare facilities. Today, the College of Nursing remains Lourdes’ largest area of undergraduate and graduate study. In 2018, the University established its first professional doctoral program – the Doctor of Nursing Practice. The Nurse Anesthesia Program in the Master of Science in Nursing degree has maintained a 100% employment rate for all of its graduates – with many receiving employment offers prior to graduation.
